The Stunt Guild is pleased to support the statement issued by Equity regarding the engagement of Stunt Performers and Stunt Coordinators.
We strongly encourage all productions, before engaging any stunt professional—whether performer or coordinator—to request clear evidence of their experience in the specific area of action required. Ensuring the right expertise is not only best practice, but essential for maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism on set.
‘We would like to remind Producers/Engagers that the determining factor when engaging stunt co-ordinators and stunt performers should be purely based upon the individual’s ability, competency and track record within the industry. There is no legal requirement to engage certain stunt professionals. The engagement cannot be solely based on which group, association or organisation the individuals are members of. As you are aware, there are several member organisations consisting of Stunt Coordinators and Stunt Performers in the UK. Indeed, some Stunt Performers and Co-ordinators are not members of any organisation but will still have certain accreditations and a level of experience. We would expect the Producers/engagers to undertake due diligence when engaging Stunt Coordinators and Stunt Performers to ensure that the individuals have the suitable skills, knowledge, experience and training to undertake work within a safety critical industry.’
